Cities of Sri Lanka

Colombo, the capital of SRI LANKA, is the largest city with a population of more than 5 million. Jaffna, which is located in the extreme north of Sri Lanka, previously had a population well over 100,000. However, a civil war resulted in major destruction of the city and a drop in population - Jaffna now only has over 80,000 residents. The two cities that do have more than 100,000 people are Kandy, which is located in south-central Sri Lanka, and the tongue-twister-named Sri Jayawardanapura Kotte, situated just east of Colombo. Cities that have at least 50,000 residents include Batticaloa, Galle, Negombo, & Ratnapura.
