Bosnia and Herzegovina Endangered Species
As of November 25th, 2014, the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ for BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA lists 10 critically endangered species and 25 endangered species in this former-Yugoslavian country in Southeast Europe. Both land and aquatic species occupy the ten listings for critically endangered species. Endemic to Bosnia and Herzegovina, three critically endangered freshwater snail species are Marstoniopsis vrbasi, Plagigeyeria tribunicae, and Vinodolia hadouphylax. The first species is only found in and around a spring in the village of Bočac, the second is found in a cave in Bileća, and the final one is found in one cave in Čepelica. The seven other critically endangered species in the country are the Angel Shark, Balearic Shearwater bird, European Eel, Mediterranean Monk Seal, Slender-Billed Curlew bird, Smoothback Angel Shark, and Cobitis illyrica ray-finned fish.
