Indiana Weather Update | June 30, 2012

Click on this map of heat-related advisories in Indiana for a larger viewHeat is still the major weather topic of central and southern Indiana, even as a cold front with sometimes severe thunderstorms and a decent amount of rain brought relief at least to areas north and east/southeast of Indianapolis. The storms were so severe that many were without power - in fact, power won't be fully restored in Fort Wayne (ALLEN county) until Wednesday! Also, towns like Rochester in FULTON county (northern Indiana) are facing many downed trees and other damage. A tornado was even reported in Rochester and destroyed a barn. According to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security's Burn Bans page, 85 out of 92 counties issued burn bans, some of which may affect the ability to light off fireworks on Independence Day.
