The original route runs through (from west to east) the counties of LAKE, eastern PORTER, LAPORTE, SAINT JOSEPH, ELKHART, NOBLE, northeastern WHITLEY, & ALLEN and towns/cities like Dyer, Merrillville, Valparaiso, Westville, LaPorte, South Bend, Mishawaka, Elkhart, Goshen, Ligonier, Churubusco, Fort Wayne, and New Haven. The second route runs through the counties of PORTER, southern LAPORTE, STARKE, MARSHALL, KOSCIUSKO, WHITLEY, and western ALLEN and towns/cities like Wanatah, Hamlet, Donaldson, Plymouth, Inwood, Bourbon, Etna Green, Warsaw, Winona Lake, and Columbia City.
