Angola Provinces


Provinces (províncias) of Angola

Located east of the Atlantic Ocean, southwest of the D.R. Congo (Democratic Republic of the Congo), north of Namibia, south of the Republic of the Congo, and west of Zambia in southwestern Africa, ANGOLA has eighteen provinces known as províncias in Portuguese, the country's official language. Angola's eighteen provinces in alphabetical order are Bengo, Benguela, Bié, Cabinda (Angola's exclave), Cuando Cubango, Cuanza Norte, Cuanza Sul, Cunene, Huambo, Huíla, Luanda, Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Malanje, Moxico, Namibe, Uíge, and Zaire.

Moxico is the largest province in land area, while Luanda province is the smallest. The list below shows the provinces' capitals listed in parentheses and land area (square kilometers) from largest to smallest. The land area figures were found on GeoHive at geohive.com (a now-defunct website).
