The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ for Svalbard and Jan Mayen in Northwestern Europe lists 2 critically endangered and 11 vulnerable species. No species are critically endangered on the islands of Jan Mayen and Svalbard. Common Rorquals (Fin Whales) and Egyptian Eagles are endangered. Vulnerable species are the Atlantic Cod fish, Haddock fish, Hooded Seal, Long-Tailed Duck, Polar Bear, Puffin bird, Red-Breasted Goose, Slavonian Grebe bird, Steller's Eider duck, Turtle Dove, and Velvet Scoter duck.
