Countries Bordering the Mediterranean Sea
Spanning across Southern Europe, North Africa, and Western Asia, a total of 21 countries border the Mediterranean Sea. All of the countries' names are conveniently linked to their individual posts, which will open in new tabs or windows. From west to east, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt are North African countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. From south to north, the Asian countries of Israel, Lebanon, Cyprus (island country), Syria, and Turkey border the sea's easternmost region. Finally, the European countries (west to east) bordering the northern Mediterranean Sea are as follows: Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Malta (island country), Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina (tiny border), Montenegro, Albania, and Greece. While enjoying a Mediterranean climate, Portugal does not border the Mediterranean Sea — but at least it borders the North Atlantic Ocean!
