MALTA is an island nation in the Mediterranean Sea. The islands are south of Italy, just below Sicily, an Italian island. The capital of Malta is Valletta. The former currency of Malta was the Maltese Lira. Its ISO 4217 currency code was MTL. Malta used the currency until January 2008, when the Euro took over.
