GREECE, a country with at least 6,000 islands, is located in Southern Europe. Greece is south of the countries Albania, Macedonia, and Bulgaria. The capital and most-populated city of Greece is Athens (Athína), one of the world's oldest cities. The currency is the Euro, and Greece's previous currency was the Greek Drachma. The Drachma's ISO 4217 currency code was GRD.
