Iceland Extinct and Endangered Species

The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ for ICELAND in northwestern Europe lists one extinct species (Great Auk bird) since the beginning of IUCN recordkeeping, two critically endangered species, and eight endangered species. Critically endangered species are the Common Skate and European Eel. Endangered species include the Atlantic Halibut, Blue Whale, Common Guitarfish, Fin Whale, Redfish, Sandy Skate, and Sei Whale.
