Heavy Snow Blankets Indiana & Other States

Winter Weather Alerts for Indiana (in effect until early on March 6th)Six to ten inches and more of heavy snow has fallen in the northern counties of Indiana (lesser amounts in southern Indiana) as part of a larger low pressure complex bringing lots of snow and difficult driving conditions to Northeast states. Indiana is the only state completely covered with winter weather alerts, although more states will undoubtedly be covered in snow. Maryland and Ohio look like Indiana in regards to weather alerts since there are only several counties in those states that do not have advisories in effect. The Winter Storm Warnings bring anywhere from 5 to ten or more inches to areas, along with difficult traveling conditions. Impacted areas include northeastern Illinois, including the Chicagoland area; northern, central, and eastern Indiana; Berrien County, Michigan; much of Ohio; Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, and Kenton Counties in Kentucky; northern and eastern West Virginia; northern Virginia; much of Maryland; southern Pennsylvania; and in a separate weather event in northern California. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect in surrounding areas, including a large portion of eastern Kentucky. In Indiana, they are issued in southwestern counties and the northeastern counties of DeKalb, LaGrange, and Steuben. A Flood Warning is also issued for four counties bordering the Wabash River: Knox and Sullivan in Indiana and Lawrence and Wabash in Illinois. The snow is expected to diminish in the next couple of hours for Indiana and other places, but not for all of course.
