On Amazing Race | March 25, 2012
Sunday night's Amazing Race took contenders to the former-Soviet nation of AZERBAIJAN, which is currently famous for its oil and natural gas production. Previously in Munich, Germany, the teams flew to Baku, Azerbaijan's capital. They first arrived at the Ateshgah Temple (Temple of Fire) a little too early since they could not retrieve the clue housed in a particular room, which would not be opened until dawn. Therefore, they had a great time with local dancers and percussionists inside the temple. They had an option of completing a Fast Forward challenge, where the one team that completed it first jumped straight to the Pit Stop — the final place to check in. In the Fast Forward, teams had to stack large hay bales of a certain number in height, length, and width. Next, all teams were submerged in a submarine of sorts and had to open a window to escape and receive the next clue on a floating, inflated raft. They received the next clue at a carpet shop in downtown Baku. In the next stage, teams chose to do one of two challenges. One required them to search through thousands of apples to retrieve the one with a flag attached to the apple stem. The other required them to scrape oil off and clean a person who took an "oil bath." Lastly, the Pit Stop was located at the Esplanade Estakada, where Dave and Rachel won two cars for finishing first!
