It is devastating to learn that the towns of Henryville and Marysville, located in Clark County in southeastern Indiana, were virtually wiped "off the map" by an EF-4 tornado — and other nearby locations were affected as well. Fortunately, there weren't any fatalities in Marysville, but one person died in Henryville. According to the National Weather Service (↗), the monstrous twister raced across 49 miles of land in Indiana and Kentucky. A total of 11 deaths have been reported in Indiana in relation to this tornado: five in Washington County (people in a mobile home), four in Jefferson County (people living in slab homes without basements), one in Clark County, and one in Scott County.
The NWS have now cancelled all these warnings, but at about 7:00 PM Eastern Time on March 2nd, 2012, a lot of TORNADO WARNINGS were in effect in eastern Kentucky and extreme western Virginia (click the map to enlarge it in a lightbox window), western West Virginia, parts of Tennessee, central & southern Alabama, and eastern/southern Mississippi. TORNADO WATCHES were in effect for parts of Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
