Dams of Lesotho

LESOTHO has at least 2 hydroelectric dams: the Katse Dam and the Mohale Dam. The dams are part of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project, Africa's largest plan to distribute water (to South Africa) and produce hydroelectric power and a source of income (for Lesotho). This project has both positive and negative effects: while it may provide income for Lesotho, many villagers' homes were flooded and the owners of those homes had to move. A BIG negative effect is hypocrisy: even though Lesotho has a lot of water, it donates much of it to South Africa in the project — thereby leaving many Lesotho villagers thirsty.
