The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a

* Tornado Warning for... Northern New Castle County in northern Delaware... Southeastern Chester County in southeastern Pennsylvania... Southwestern Delaware County in southeastern Pennsylvania...

* Until 530 PM EDT.

* At 502 PM EDT, a large and extremely dangerous tornado was located over Landenberg, or 7 miles north of Newark, moving northeast at 40 mph.

This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TAKE COVER NOW!

HAZARD...Damaging tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be destroyed. Considerable damage to homes, businesses, and vehicles is likely and complete destruction is possible.

* Locations impacted include... Wilmington, Newark, West Chester, Chester, Westtown, Elsmere, Kennett Square, West Grove, Newport, Arden, Stanton, Cheyney, North Star, Talleyville, Elam, Lima, Pike Creek, Chelsea, Ashland, and Gradyville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

To repeat, a large, extremely dangerous and potentially deadly tornado is developing. To protect your life, TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.

To report severe weather contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly NJ.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
