This is the flag of Amman, a city home to about 4 million residents and serving as the national capital of JORDAN. A large part of this flag is the Arabic spelling, عمان, of Amman. Abstract shapes in the background represent buildings and hills in the city. Communities surrounding Amman in northern Jordan include Al Mafraq, As Salț, Az Zarqā’, Irbid, and Ma’dabā.
