Congo Endangered Species
As of April 6th, 2015, the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ for REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO (Congo) in Central Africa lists nine critically endangered species and twenty-five endangered species. Congo's critically endangered species are as follows: Atlantic Goliath Grouper, Largetooth and Smalltooth Sawfish, Pennant's Red Colobus primate, Slender-snouted Crocodile, Smoothback Angel Shark, Western Gorilla, Autranella congolensis plant, and Lanistes neritoides large freshwater snail. The snail species lives in a very restricted geographic range of wetlands near the Atlantic Ocean coast and requires clean and well-oxygenated water to live. Specifically, Lanistes neritoides are only found in Nyanga province in southern Gabon and Kouilou department in southwestern Republic of the Congo.
