Potential Severe Weather in the U.S. Midwest

There is severe weather overnight (Tuesday, Sept. 9 through Wednesday, Sept. 10) in northern Kansas and northern Missouri (Tornado Watches) as well as eastern Nebraska and central/southern Iowa (Flash Flood Warnings in several counties). Areas in the Midwest may experience severe storms with high lightning and flooding potential; as a foreshadowing alert, Flash Flood Watches are issued for Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, the western part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, southeast Minnesota, northern Missouri, and extreme eastern Nebraska. According to the National Weather Service map, (www.weather.gov), parts or whole areas of many states have Special Weather Statements or Hazardous Weather Statements in preparation for storms, some of which will be particularly severe in the Midwest. Very important to note, local National Weather Service offices serving Illinois, Indiana, southwest Michigan (5 counties: Berrien, Branch, Cass, Hillsdale, and Saint Joseph), and northwest Ohio are cautious about the potential for isolated tornadoes and hail. Stay up to date with the National Weather Service or your preferred local weather update info source.
