Urumqi, also spelled Ürümqi, is the capital and largest city of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the westernmost administrative region in CHINA. The population of the city is larger than 2 million, and the location is in the northern part of Xinjiang Uygur. The Bogda mountain range is east while the Eren Habirga mountain range is west. Surrounding cities include Changji, Fukang, Hutubi, and Minquan.
