GeoFact of the Day | Chickens

According to FAO's Global Livestock Production and Health Atlas (link opens in new window), the state of Georgia has the most chickens in the UNITED STATES, boasting (or should I say broasting) over 250 million of the tasty birds! Arkansas is second with over 216 million chickens while Alabama is third with over 187 million. The figures were updated in 2007 at the latest. To look up the population of all types of livestock in states and countries on the GLiPHA site, select 'Livestock Population' in the Theme menu and go to any animal in the Livestock species menu.
P.S. I hope you are having an enjoyable holiday season!
