State Fair Exhibit Explains German Influence in Indiana
When planning to visit the Indiana State Fair on August 11, I was looking forward to visiting the Willkommen to Germany exhibit; I left the International Pavilion building that hosted it very satisfied. I learned more about the German influences that bless Indiana towns, posed with Saint Nicholas for a few photos, and gazed at the many German coins, banknotes, and stamps that were on display. There was also a feature about the fall of the Berlin Wall supplemented with a replica of a section of the historic wall that, until 1989, divided West Berlin and East Berlin. In addition, I learned that there were many Indiana communities that have German sister cities; the Ind. cities that were featured on a wall of the exhibit were Columbus, Fort Wayne, Goshen, Indianapolis, Evansville, Jasper, New Harmony, South Bend, & Vincennes. All in all, it was a great exhibit!
