Guadeloupe

GuadeloupeGUADELOUPE is an overseas region of France located in the Leeward Islands (northern islands of the Lesser Antilles). Guadeloupe is south of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and north of Trinidad and Tobago. The capital is Basse-Terre, which is the second largest city in Guadeloupe; it has a population of almost 13,000. The most-populated city, Point-à-Pitre, has over 17,000 people. Because France uses the Euro currency, Guadeloupeans also use the Euro for their transactions. The Euro's ISO 4217 currency code is EUR. Even though the Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre are separated by a relatively narrow river, they are still considered islands.
