In existence for over 1,000 years, POLAND is located in Central Europe. Poland borders six countries and one territory (from west going counterclockwise): Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, and Kaliningrad (a small exclave that is part of Russia). Poland has 16 provinces called voivodeships, which are featured in this GeoFact of the Day Blog post containing a map. Two voivodeships in Southern Poland - Malopolskie and Ślaskie - have the highest population densities in the country. You can find out more details about Poland's population density with this post. The capital and most-populated city of Poland is Warsaw (Warszawa). The currency is the Złoty, and the ISO 4217 currency code is PLN.
