The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a
* Tornado Warning for...
Northeastern Box Butte County in the Panhandle of Nebraska...
Southern Dawes County in the Panhandle of Nebraska...
* Until 1115 PM MDT.
* At 1035 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a
tornado was located 8 miles northwest of Box Butte Campground, or
20 miles southwest of Chadron, moving east at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Tornado and ping pong ball size hail.
SOURCE...Weather spotters reported funnel cloud 8 miles north
northwest of Marsland at 1031 PM.
IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

Box Butte Campground and Box Butte Dam around 1045 PM MDT.
Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include
Chadron St Park.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.
Tornadoes are extremely difficult to see and confirm at night. Do not
wait to see or hear the tornado. TAKE COVER NOW!
To report severe weather contact your nearest law enforcement agency.
They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in
Cheyenne.
