Germany Extinct and Endangered Species


As of August 6th, 2015, the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ for GERMANY in west-central Europe lists 4 extinct species since the beginning of IUCN recordkeeping, 17 critically endangered species, and 32 endangered species. Germany's four extinct species are the Houting whitefish (Coregonus oxyrinchus), Lake Constance Whitefish (Coregonus gutturosus), Salvelinus profundus char fish, and Tobias' Caddisfly (Hydropsyche tobiasi). Critically endangered species include the Bavarian Pine Vole, Common Skate, European Eel, European Mink, and Spengler's Freshwater Mussel. Endangered species include the Atlantic Halibut, Fin Whale, Freshwater Pearl Mussel, Striped Nerite snail, Velvet Scoter, Waterwheel plant, and White-clawed Crayfish.
