Germany

Map of GermanyOfficially known as the Federal Republic of Germany, GERMANY (Deutschland), which borders European countries, is located in Northern Europe. Germany is northeast of Switzerland and France; northwest of Austria; west of Czech Republic and Poland; east of Luxembourg, Belgium, and Netherlands; and south of Denmark. Surrounding bodies of water include the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. The Black Forest is a mountain range in southwest Germany; the range is aptly-named because of its dense forests that sit atop it. Lake Constance is situated along a part of Germany's southern border. The capital of Germany is Berlin. Other major cities include Bremen, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich, and Stuttgart. The current currency is the Euro, and the previous currency was the Deutsche Mark. The Deutsche Mark's ISO 4217 currency code was DEM.
