Comoros Endangered Species

As of March 22nd, 2015, the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ for COMOROS, located in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Eastern Africa, lists nine critically endangered species and twenty-one endangered species. Comoros' nine critically endangered species on the IUCN List are as follows: Anjouan Scops Owl, Coelacanth, Grand Comoro Scops Owl, Hawksbill Turtle, Mohéli Scops Owl, Mongoose Lemur, Idioctis intertidalis spider, Neckeropsis pocsii moss, and Ravenea moorei palm. Regardless of being critically endangered in the Comoros, the Idioctis intertidalis spider species has a potentially large geographic range: Njazidja (Grand Comoro or Grand Comore) island (Comoros' largest island), Nosy Be island of Madagascar, and Curieuse island of Seychelles. The Anjouan Scops Owl is found on Anjouan (Nzwani) island, the Grand Comoro Scops Owl is found on Grand Comoro island, and the Mohéli Scops Owl is found on Mohéli (Mwani) island.
