53 Indiana Counties Report Burn Bans
According to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security at the following link (http://in.gov/dhs/files/burn-ban/), 53 counties have issued burn bans due to at least moderate and even severe drought conditions. Five counties, GREENE, ORANGE, POSEY, WAYNE, & WHITLEY, issued Local Area burn bans, which indicate that a couple of communities and/or some portions of those counties needed to issue burn bans. Meanwhile, 47 counties, mainly concentrated in Northern Indiana and Southwestern Indiana, issued Countywide burn bans. WARREN county, in Western Indiana, lifted a previous burn ban. Visit the aforementioned link for an up-to-date map of burn ban-issuing counties and to see actual burn ban declarations by county. I have a request for Mother Nature: bring us a sufficient amount of rain!
