Another Bout of Wintry Weather in Indiana
The drifting snow and frigid temperatures that Hoosiers are familiar with in harsh winters of the past are back! A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until Friday for ELKHART, KOSCIUSKO, LAGRANGE, LAKE, LAPORTE, MARSHALL, NOBLE, PORTER, SAINT JOSEPH, and STARKE counties, the northernmost counties in the graphic. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the rest of Indiana until around 10 A.M. eastern standard time. The warning is due to a low-pressure system that is bringing at least 10" of snow to South Bend, 5-10" of snow in a band to the south of South Bend (running from Lake county and northern NEWTON & JASPER counties to LaGrange and STEUBEN counties) and no more than 5" in Jasper, Kosciusko, Marshall, Newton, Starke, and southward. The northern fringe of the areas that might get up to 3" include the counties of CASS, HUNTINGTON, MIAMI, NOBLE, southern Steuben, WABASH, & WHITLEY. Nevertheless, the snow may be drifting in many places due to excessive winds.
