Wabash River

The Wabash River, which once was a major transportation route and is the focus for Indiana's state song, On the Banks of the Wabash River, Far Away (composed by Paul Dresser - view the lyrics on 50States.com), is located in the UNITED STATES of AMERICA in the state of Indiana. It starts out as a tributary to the longer Ohio River in southern Indiana, then is Indiana's western border, running along Posey, Gibson, Knox, Sullivan, & Vigo counties. Near Terre Haute (city in Vigo county), the river starts to 'jump' off Indiana's western border and becomes a border for Fountain, Parke, Vermillion, & Warren counties. Next, the river runs through the towns/cities of Lafayette, Delphi, Logansport, Peru, Wabash, and Huntington. The remainder of the Wabash River runs past the Indiana-Ohio border.
