The capital and largest city is Palermo, which has around 660,000 inhabitants. Sicily's flag features a unique and peculiar triskelion motif comprised of three legs and Medusa's head. In the United States, The Golden Girls 80s and 90s television sitcom featured a Sicilian-born character, Sophia Petrillo (portrayed by the late Estelle Getty).
