2016 Indiana Education Superintendent Election
This is the last 2016 Election-related post on GeoFact of the Day. Below is a GeoFact of the Day Blog map showing the total number of votes received by Democratic candidate Glenda Ritz and Republican candidate Jennifer McCormick during the November 8th, 2016 election in Indiana. According to the Indiana Secretary of State's Election website (↗), voters in 82 counties elected Jennifer McCormick to be Indiana public schools' Superintendent of Public Instruction, while voters in 10 counties favored Glenda Ritz. Voters in Lake, LaPorte, Marion, Monroe, Perry, Porter, Saint Joseph, Tippecanoe, Vermillion, and Vigo counties preferred Ritz to win. Percentage-wise, McCormick won with 53.4% of the vote, while Gitz earned 46.6% of the vote. Access this GeoFact of the Day post (↗) for results in 2012. In that election, Ritz defeated Tony Bennett — the former superintendent, not the famous nonagenarian singer!
