Cayman Islands Endangered Species
The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ for the Cayman Islands in the Caribbean Sea lists 1 extinct species (Grand Cayman Thrush bird), 17 critically endangered species, and 20 endangered species. Here are some of the Cayman Islands' endangered species: Aegiphila caymanensis mint ("on the verge of extinction"), Cerion nanus snail, Elkhorn Coral, Goliath Grouper fish, Old George (Hohenbergia caymanensis) plant, Cayman Salvia (Salvia caymanensis) plant, Staghorn Coral, Warsaw Grouper fish, and Wide Sawfish. Endangered species include the American Eel, Atlantic Bluefin Tuna, Banana Orchid, Black-Capped Petrel bird, Boulder Star Coral, Cayman Agave plant, Cayman Cleaner Goby fish, Cayman Greenbanded Goby, Cayman Sponge Goby, Grand Cayman Rock Iguana, Green Turtle, Hammerhead Shark, Ironwood tree, Nassau Grouper fish, Scalloped Hammerhead Shark, Silver Palm tree, and West Indian Mahogany tree.
