Puerto Rico's Islands

Puerto Rico is sometimes thought of as a single island, but the Caribbean Sea territory belonging to the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is actually made up of multiple islands. There is of course the main island, but there are smaller islands surrounding it. The three largest islands besides Puerto Rico island are Culebra and Vieques to the east of the main island and Isla de Mona to the west. Smaller islands off the east coast of Puerto Rico include Cayo Icacos, Cayo Santiago, Isla Piñeros, and La Cordillera. Small islands are also found off the southern coast of Puerto Rico island; they include Cayos de Barca, Cayos Cabezazos, Cayo Cardona, and Cayos de Ratones. Also off the southern coast is an island with a gloomy name: Isla Caja de Muertos, which is basically called Coffin Island in English.
