Donnelly Defeats Mourdock for Indiana Senate Seat
A South Bend, Indiana resident, Democratic candidate Joe Donnelly claimed victory over Republican Richard Mourdock with 50% of the votes. Mourdock received 44%, while Libertarian candidate Andrew Horning received the remaining 6% of the votes. According to CNN's Indiana Senate Race Results, Donnelly earned 1,262,065 votes, while Mourdock earned 1,122,727 votes. Joe Donnelly was the former congressman of Indiana's U.S. House of Representatives District 2, which now encompasses the counties of ELKHART, FULTON, KOSCIUSKO, LAPORTE, MARSHALL, MIAMI, PULASKI, SAINT JOSEPH, STARKE, and WABASH. Republican and Jimtown native Jackie Walorski succeeded as a District 2 representative after defeating U.S. veteran and Democrat Brendan Mullen in a close 48%-49% victory; Libertarian candidate Joe Ruiz earned 3% of the votes.
