GeoFact of the Day | Lake Mississinewa

Located in eastern MIAMI and southwestern WABASH counties in the U.S. state of INDIANA, Lake Mississinewa was created thanks to a dam along the Mississinewa River. Four state recreational areas, Frances Slocum State Rec. Area, Miami State Rec. Area, Pearson Mill Rec. Area, and Red Bridge State Rec. Area, completely surround Lake Mississinewa. The small community of Peoria, Indiana (in Miami County) is west of the lake, while Mount Vernon (in Wabash County) is on the south shore of Lake Mississinewa's eastern part.
