The 2014 Winter Olympics are about to begin, and the festivities and prestigious athletic events will take place among the rather warm humid subtropical climate of Southwestern RUSSIA. The climate found in Sochi is the type of climate in the Southeastern United States. Popular beaches are found on the Black Sea shoreline to the west of Sochi; the country Georgia is east of the city. While Sochi provides pleasant amenities and attractions, residents and foreigners alike will have to be on alert for possible terrorist activity. Regardless, athletes from over 90 countries and territories braved the circumstances to come to Sochi and compete for the most coveted honor in athleticism.
