LITHUANIA is a Baltic country (like Latvia and Estonia) located in Eastern Europe. Lithuania is south of Latvia, northeast of Poland and Kaliningrad (small portion of Russia), and northwest of Belarus. The capital is Vilnius, located in southeastern Lithuania. Other major cities throughout Lithuania include Alytus, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Marijampolė, Mažeikiai, Panevėžys, and Šiauliai. , The Euro was adopted on January 1st, 2015 as Lithuania's official currency, the same day that Lithuania became the 19th member of the Eurozone. Lithuanians formerly used the Lithuanian Litas as their currency (ISO currency code: LTL).
