Gwillim Law's Administrative Subdivisions of Countries: a Comprehensive World Reference, 1900 through 1998 provides in-depth text information about administrative divisions or subdivisions in every country. Administrative subdivisions featured in this book include but are not limited to states, regions, provinces, districts, and départements, depending on each country's organization of subdivisions. Of course, some countries have altered, deleted, and added administrative divisions since 1999, but this book is nevertheless a valuable time capsule of the world in 1999. In addition, it is a reliable source that we can use to compare the administrative subdivisions of 1999 to the ones we have today.
