Kenai Peninsula
The Kenai Peninsula is a large area of land dropping down from the southern coastline of Alaska, which is the 49th state to become part of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Communities on the peninsula include Homer, Kenai, Seward, Soldotna, and Sterling. The largest city in Alaska, Anchorage, is located north of the Kenai Peninsula. Lakes on the peninsula include Kenai Lake, Skilak Lake, and Tustumena Lake; other bodies of water include Cook Inlet to the west and multiple bays surrounding the peninsula (including Chickaloon, Harris, Kachemak, Nuka, and Whale Bays). Embedded below is a map of Kenai Peninsula from Bing Maps. As you can see, much of the peninsula is protected by wildlife refuges and national parks.

Many geography facts are well-established and therefore do not belong to any one source, but occasionally a fact requires attribution/credit if it is unique and hard-to-find — for example, facts found from specific cultural, anthropological, geological, and scientific (etc.) research.
