Volcanoes of Oregon

In the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA in the Northwest Pacific state of Oregon, there is an assortment of volcanoes and volcanic features of different types - shield volcanoes, stratovolcanoes, cinder cones, caldera lakes, and more. They are scattered throughout the central and eastern parts of the large state. For many, the most notable one is Crater Lake , a caldera lake that formed from a volcano in the western part of Klamath County. Mount Hood is another significant volcanic feature, located at the border between Hood River and Clackamas Counties. It is a stratovolcano that is part of the Mount Hood National Forest, which is featured on the America the Beautiful quarter representing Oregon. Sand Mountain Field of Linn County is comprised of cinder cones. Volcanic fields (where lava flows may or may not occur) include Diamond Craters of Harney County, Devil's Garden and Squaw Ridge of Lake County, and Jackies Butte and Saddle Butte of Malheur County.
